In 1952, company founder George Stephen Sr. was in search of a solution to improve the standard brick grills of the time and drew inspiration from a buoy. He cut it in half, added some air vents and legs and, in the process, invented the grill that would spark a backyard revolution. His invention also laid the foundation for Weber Stephen Products LLC.
