Depending on the software on the device, your source will be automatically upscaled and "enhanced" to make it look reasonable. Sometimes such settings can be deactivated or adjusted. But a 4K TV can be much closer than many think.

The question is also what you mainly watch (in what quality). For 720p, an 83" OLED might not make much sense if you ask me, unless you have a lot of space and a long distance to sit 😂 But better sources are definitely worthwhile with 4K OLEDs.

Most stuff is over 1080p these days anyway and 4K is becoming more widely available. I have a 2.5m distance to my 75" OLED and am very happy with it, but mostly I watch Netflix or Disney+ in the appropriate quality. Then sitting close is also fun.
