AMD Radeon RX 7600: A small development step in the entry-level class
AMD's latest addition to the 7000 series of graphics cards is intended primarily to appeal to beginners. The performance leap compared to the previous generation is small.
The Radeon RX 7600 is only the third card in the RX 7000 series. Following the two top models RX 7900 XT and 7900 XTX, AMD is launching a card for entry-level users, skipping the mid-range for the time being.
Here are the most important specs of the card at a glance:

Reviewer Wolfgang Andermahr sees it positively that the Radeon RX 7600 has a lower recommended retail price than its predecessor at release. But he doesn't have much more praise to offer.
In 1080p resolution, he says, the card is just eight per cent faster than the RX 6650 XT. The just released Nvidia RTX 4060 Ti is far ahead of the new AMD card and no competition. The RX 7600 is suitable for gaming in 1080p resolution. However, depending on the game, the details have to be reduced because the 8 gigabytes of video memory are too small. This makes the card unsuitable for even higher resolutions - except with major compromises in the settings. . According to Andermahr, the power consumption in games is 160 watts, 16 watts less than the RX 6650 XT. This is little for the eight percent increase in performance and should be surpassed by the RTX 4060, which will be released in July. Overall, the new AMD card is not convincing.
For Andrew Cunnigham, the RX 7600 treads water. To be sure, he says, the new AMD card is not bad and is preferable to its predecessors, the RX 6600 XT and RX 6650 XT. But he is disappointed that the leap in performance and efficiency is so small. Nor, he says, is the feature set really better than its predecessors - apart from AV1 encoding support. . In classic Rasterizer games and the resolutions 1080p and 1440p, the RX 7600 is on par with or just beats the RTX 3060 12 GB. In the best cases, it can even keep up with the RTX 4060 Ti. Compared to the predecessor cards, it is only a few percent ahead.
After all, the price is attractive at the current time. Other advantages are the dimensions of the reference card, which should fit in almost every PC, and the fact that it uses a single 8-pin PCIe connector.
The card will be available from next week. How it looks with the prices is still open.Titelbild: Screenshot Youtube / Extreme IT
