My Essence favourites: 5 products you can't do without!

The drugstore brand Essence is generously represented in my make-up inventory. I've picked out a few of my most-used products for this article. Curious?

Brighten Up! banana powder

Yes, my copy looks mangy. The lid has fallen off (unfortunately this also happened with the previous one) and there is some nail polish stuck to the edge. Nevertheless, I love this product. The matte, yellow-toned compact powder brightens and mattifies areas of the face at the same time. I particularly like the blurring effect that conceals pores. I prefer to apply it selectively: between and under the eyebrows, on the chin, around the nose and under the eyes.

I've had it for a while now. You can tell, can't you?

Watch out: You can see the lighter-coloured version (number 10) in my photo. We currently only have number 20 in our range.

Magic Filter Glow Booster

The lightly tinted face fluid from the glass pump bottle gives the skin a healthy glow and can be used in a variety of ways. For example, I used the colour 20 Medium (a few shades darker than my skin tone) to mix into my liquid bronzer for an extra glow. You can also mix the booster into your foundation, wear it as a base underneath or as a highlighter. I have almost used mine up.

Pure Nude Highlighter

This powder highlighter has been sitting in my drawer for longer than I care to admit. The best before date? It's long past it. But I still can't part with it. Especially as I only recently rediscovered this product for myself.

The fine formula is reminiscent of silk in both look and feel and looks extremely natural when applied. If you have dry skin, you can also use it all over your face as a finishing powder instead of a spot. It also cuts a fine figure as a subtle eye shadow. My favourite way to use the shimmer powder at the moment? Put a little on the lip line and apply lip gloss. This creates the illusion of fullness.

Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara «Black Brown»

My favourite drugstore mascara franchise, the Lash Princess line, has launched a «black brown». When applied, it looks softer than black and yet more intense than the usual brown shades. The perfect shade. And the brush? Creates length and volume. I'm a big fan.

The tapered brush also reaches lashes at the inner corner of the eye.

Blush Crush!

This powder blush combines the best of both worlds: The colour intensity of a blush meets the radiance of a highlighter. My favourite? «10 Caramel Latte» a warm bronze shade that envelops the cheeks in a sun-kissed veil. Thanks to the buttery soft, shimmering formula (no glitter!), the cheekbones are also beautifully emphasised when the light hits them.

Lightweight and compact.

As a massive Disney fan, I see the world through rose-tinted glasses. I worship series from the 90s and consider mermaids a religion. When I’m not dancing in glitter rain, I’m either hanging out at pyjama parties or sitting at my make-up table. P.S. I love you, bacon, garlic and onions.
