Hello Community I would like to replace my Sony HX90V. What annoys me about it is that it sometimes takes a long time to focus - but it has GPS on board and 30x zoom! Here is the selection: https://www.digitec.ch/comparison... See below for details. I can't judge for myself whether I miss the zoom (+15x on the Panasonic models) or the super autofocus of the RX100. I take (too) many photos indoors at family parties - f2.8 might be better than 3.6 on the Panasconics. I've looked at too many tests - each model has its strengths. So I'd better ask you: if you had the choice or compared your cameras, which one would you choose? Sony RX100 VII + the best according to digitec rating + very fast autofocus + focus tracking + aperture 2.8 + fold-out display, practical for small people + 1" sensor - Conditional touchscreen menus - "only" 8.3x zoom - no GPS - already old: 07/2019 Sony HX99 - successor to mine, better AF and I probably wouldn't have to change/get used to it too much + 28x zoom - also no GPS - 1/2.3" sensor - very old: 08/2019 TZ96D + latest model: 11/2022 + fold-out display + all menus by touch + 30x zoom - 1/2.3" sensor - Bende 3.3 - no GPS TZ202 + 1" sensor + aperture 1.4!!! + 15x zoom - old: 05/2018 - too big for trouser pockets - non swivelling display

Hello everyone, I occasionally want to make A3 prints at 300 dpi and am now wondering whether 20MP resolution is enough. I currently have the Panasonic G100d MicroFourThirds camera, but would like to switch to APS-C. The Sony 6700 would be cool, but is actually over my budget. Does it make sense to switch from the Panasonic to the Nikon Z50ii if both only have about 20MP? Many thanks & regards, Beny

I am looking for a good camera that is particularly suitable for plant photography. It would be important that the macro shots are good, but functions such as time-lapse would also be important to me. The lighting conditions are assured due to the fact that we are dealing with houseplants. However, I would be happy if the camera also works well outdoors in uncontrolled lighting conditions, as I plan to go travelling with it from time to time to photograph plants there too. Budget is approx. 1500 - 2000 CHF for body with lens, but also less.

Hello everyone I'm currently still shooting with a Nikon Z5 and a small selection of lenses. However, I would like to fly to Japan in the future and am thinking about updating the body beforehand ... I like to photograph landscapes, architecture, streets and have started with macro photography. The Z5 II is currently still quite expensive and doesn't really have any significant improvements, especially the same MP. I'm wavering between the Nikon Z7 II and the Nikon Z8 - but I suspect that the Z8 might be too much for a hobby? Thanks for your ideas :)

Hello together (Edit: My favourites at the moment are the Sony a6400 with the 18-135mm kit lens and the Fujifilm X-T30 II Kit 15 - 45 mm... But I don't like heavily processed images, which the Fuji is known for. Does anyone have any experience with Fuji cameras but without the heavy filters?) I am currently looking for a suitable camera. I've wanted to get a "proper" camera for years, but I've always been unsure whether I really need one. I've been using my iPhone 14 Pro Max for 2.5 years and occasionally use my Canon Ixus 155 for fun. The camera should fulfil the following requirements: Price: max. 1100 CHF for body + lens Purpose: I like to take photos of nature, cities (buildings, streets, etc.) and people - especially for Instagram posts. I also like making short videos. However, I'm not sure if there's anything in this price range that's better than my iPhone for videos, especially when it comes to action mode. Hello, This is our 4th time travelling to Namibia for a safari. So far I have always travelled with my Lumix FZ1000 bridge camera and have always been very happy with the pictures. But now I'm looking for a replacement this year and would like to take a step towards more professionalism and flexibility (interchangeable lenses), larger zoom lenses, AutoFocus with the latest technology, better quality in low light (mornings and evenings on safari at sunset and sunrise), etc. I'm looking for a new camera. That has been enough for me for the last few years, but I would now like to capture my travels with a decent and good camera. Hello everyone! I'm using the forum for the first time but I'm a bit lost... I'm looking to buy a camera for a number of reasons. I used to use a Nikon D750 which I had stolen a long time ago, but I loved that time. My current needs would be for travel photography and for work. I'm a web developer and clients often ask for photos for their websites, so I'd like to be able to take some nice photos. I also love going out and taking beautiful photos of the landscape, which I can reuse later or for the pleasure of seeing them again. I also love taking photos of my family and friends, and I'd love to be able to take on the role of the person who freezes the memories, kindly replacing my grandmother who has played this role with passion all these years. I'm not a pro but I can take good photos, so I wanted to know what Nikon has to offer (if it's not a good idea, I can change direction of course) between 1000 and 3000chf. If it's a kit it's even better! Thanks to anyone who takes the time to advise me, I've forgotten a lot of technical information but I'm all ears 😊 A+

Has anyone had any negative experiences with Canon's mirrorless cameras? I was actually about to buy a camera from the EOS R series, but I've read articles online about models that seem to hang up out of the blue and sometimes take hours to recover. Does anyone know more about this, including how Canon handles it? Has anyone been affected by this themselves? Are there any workarounds?

Hello Community, I have just seen that Digitec is selling the EOS R5 and also an EOS R5 (EU). The EU version is exactly 500.- CHf cheaper, which is not insignificant. What advantages do I have with a non-EU version and what disadvantages do I have with an EU version? Thank you for clarifying this.

Hello When Canon lenses are used on a Canon body, the minimum aperture is the one indicated on the lens. (For zoom lenses usually 2.8 or 4.0) If the same Canon lenses are mounted on a Sonybody, is it effectively the case that the f-number is reduced, e.g. from 2.8 => 2.0 or 4.0 to 2.8? If this is the case, does anyone have an explanation for this?

Hello together I am looking for my first real camera. The camera doesn't have to be incredibly good, but it should offer a good mix between retro feeling and state of the art. I have now found a few cameras that take good "retro photos". Hello together, Maybe someone here has some crucial advice for me. I am looking for a camera for archaeology. The following situations are standard. - Photography in low light (high ISO with little image noise) - Photography in confined spaces (tendency towards full-frame) - Subjects are generally static - Subjects in photography are generally smaller architectures, but also occasionally wide-ranging landscapes - Small-scale photography (possibility of 1:1 macro) - Weatherproof - Battery life is important, but can be increased considerably with battery grips. - Budget: 2000.- max. I tend to Canon purely out of habit from the institutes and was already flirting with the new Canon R8 of the RP (unfortunately without IS) or the R6.
