Supposedly the so-called ADs ('Archive Disc'), the successor to the Bluray discs with 300 to 1000 GBytes of storage space, should have been available on the market since 2015 (drives and blanks), but I haven't found anything like that on Digitec yet...does anyone know when (and if) these (at decent prices) can be bought here?

Are there actually significant differences in the read rate of Bluray drives in the Digitec shop (I would be interested to know which is the fastest, and whether it is significantly more expensive than others) ?

Why do many optical drives have a very, very small cache (4 MB or something like that, mostly) ? When volatile memory is really very cheap nowadays (about 5 Fr. for 1 GByte DDR4 RAM...) I would gladly pay this extra price if the access times were a lot shorter...

I have removed a DVD drive from an old notebook and would like to use it on a new notebook as it does not have an optical drive. My question now is which adapter / adapter cable I need. The connection at the back of the drive is only about 3cm wide (part with the two L-connectors). The connection of the 2.5'' hard drive is much larger at 4cm. i am looking for a blueray drive. it should be able to burn discs, but if need be, i can do it without. important is that it is slot in; not with a drawer in which you put the disc but with a slot in which you pull it in/out. is there something like that here? Thanks

Hello together I am looking for a quiet DVD RW drive 5.25 for my girlfriend's tower PC. Does it exist at all? When I look through the reviews of the current products, it looks like they are all loud. My problem: As soon as my girlfriend inserts a DVD into the said drive and starts it, it gets so loud that for me, sitting at my PC in the same room, it's still clearly audible even with headphones, but it's bearable to a certain extent... I want to change that because the noise gets on my nerves, does anyone have a suggestion?
