This printer is designed for use with cartridges that contain a new or reused HP chip. It employs dynamic security measures to block cartridges that use a non-HP chip. Regular firmware updates maintain the effectiveness of these measures and block cartridges that previously worked. A reused HP chip allows for the use of reused, refurbished, and refilled cartridges.
