I am interested in the noise level: Do the fans run permanently or is the speed controlled? Is the 40 dB the maximum noise or the noise level during normal operation on the mains?

Helpful answer
The fan depends on the load in operation. It is difficult for me to estimate how loud it is without load, as the servers are definitely louder. When the UPS is on battery power, the fan starts up and is very audible.
