Flourish Excel™ is a source of bioavailable organic carbon. All plants require a carbon source, which is typically derived from CO2 but can also come from simple organic compounds (such as photosynthetic intermediates). The use of CO2 injection or Flourish Excel™ does not necessarily exclude the use of the other. Since the processes of producing photosynthetic intermediates and building upon them occur simultaneously, using Flourish Excel™ can provide significant benefits either on its own or in conjunction with CO2. This combination is particularly suitable for situations where additional CO2 could lead to dangerously low pH levels. Flourish Excel™ also has iron-reducing properties that promote the ferrous state of iron (Fe2), which is more easily utilized by plants than ferric iron (Fe3).
