Here are a few points we were able to gather from the manufacturer:

No chemicals or descaling agents added to the water.
Emerio explicitly advises against adding any descaling agent to the water in the tank (e.g. vinegar, industrial products, anti-scaling agents sold in shops).

Drain and rinse:
Allow the appliance to cool completely.
Drain the water from the tank.
Refill with clean water (pure water recommended, not tap water if very hard).

Manual cleaning :
Clean the baseplate (plate) with a sponge or slightly damp cloth if any residue appears.
Gently vacuum or blow the steam outlet holes to remove deposits.

Built-in anti-scale :
The appliance has a built-in anti-scale cartridge to reduce scale build-up, but this does not completely prevent natural scale build-up.
