Advent Calendar "Dresden Hofkirche"
Dresden is truly one of the most beautiful and famous cities in Europe. Therefore, it was very easy for Brück & Sohn to soon publish a second Advent calendar featuring Dresden. The Catholic Hofkirche Dresden was built from 1739 to 1754 in the most beautiful Roman Baroque style. The construction became necessary because Saxony was Protestant, but its Elector Augustus the Strong had to adopt the Catholic faith as he wanted to become King of Poland. In 1980, the Catholic Hofkirche Dresden was elevated to the status of St. Trinitatis Cathedral. Its angled positioning in relation to the surrounding monuments such as the Brühl's Terrace, the Dresden Castle, and the Semper Opera highlights the unusual size of the Hofkirche.
This Advent calendar showcases the entire panorama of the terrace bank in earlier times. The Elbe is frozen, and the people of Dresden are enjoying themselves on the ice. Behind the little windows of the Advent calendar are hidden Christmas and typically Saxon motifs. Dresden Christmas stollen, plum tarts, and baked apples are essential elements. Enjoy opening it during Advent.
