The styles 1A, 3A, and 5A are the most commonly used. Style 1A means that the player and the yoyo (ball bearing) are connected by the string. The player performs tricks by interacting with the string; this is still the most practiced yoyo style today. Style 3A is similar to 1A, but with one yoyo in each hand, requiring interactions between the two yoyos.
