How to get tight bangles over your hand without a struggle
To get a bangle that fits perfectly, you first have to get it over your hand. Find out how to do it without any squeezing here.
Bangles are a tricky thing: if you can slip them on easily, there is a high probability that they will be too loose on your wrist. However, if the bangle fits perfectly around your wrist, the struggle often begins when putting it on. After all, it first has to fit over your much wider hand.
Insights from the jade shop
I learned the surprisingly simple solution during a trip to Beijing. There, I tried on various jade bangles in a shop. If the relatively heavy piece of jewelry is too loose, it moves annoyingly on your arm, bangs loudly against table edges and other objects – or, in the worst case, even slides off your wrist and breaks.
Accordingly, the models are quite tight. And anyone who has ever tried to force a tight, rigid bangle over their hand knows: the thumb joint in particular is reliably in the way.
A plastic bag is all you need
When trying them on, the saleswoman therefore unceremoniously pulled a thin plastic bag over my hand. At first, I was a bit confused. But then she pushed the bangle on after it with surprisingly little resistance. The smooth plastic reduced the friction between skin and jewelry: no painful squeezing, no laborious handling with soapy water or creams.

The plastic bag hack naturally also works when taking the bangle off. For this, you pull the bag over your hand again, wrap it tightly around your wrist at the bottom, and pull the bangle over it. Once again, it shows: the most banal solutions are sometimes the most brilliant.
