Make yourself a treat or create a gift that is guaranteed to be well received - with this DIY paper vase.

DIY paper vases are easy to make, super cheap and look really stylish. They are perfect for fresh flowers, dried flowers, artificial flowers or as an object in your home. The highlight? There is simply a glass inside the vase - so everything remains stable and watertight.

All you need are a few basics such as paper, scissors and glue. And the rest is probably already at home. Perfect for a relaxed evening of crafting.

Instructions

Step 1:
Choose paper - one for the inside and one for the outside. Heavy paper such as drawing board (approx. 300 g/m²) works great, but you can also use thinner paper (approx. 250 g/m²). I opted for (very) light blue and pink paper and painted it with acrylic paint beforehand.

Step 2:
Draw the silhouette of your vase.

Important: Check where the container, for example a juice glass or a toilet roll, will be later. If necessary, draw it in with or without a ruler. You are free to choose the height of your vase, but it should be at least as high as the container. Leave at least three centimetres of space to the right and left of the edge of your drawn vase so that you can insert the glass or toilet roll more easily later on.

Step 3:
Now cut out the silhouette of your vase.

Step 4:
Glue the edges of the two sheets together so that the designed sides are facing outwards. Leave out the top and bottom ends. Leave enough space in the centre so that you can insert the container later.

Step 5:
Slide the finished paper vase over your vessel after the glue has dried.

Finished! Your DIY paper vase is ready. Whether as a gift or for yourself - it looks cool, is individual and really makes a statement.

And the possibilities are endless. You can design the homemade paper vase exactly how you want. Draw a cool pattern that perfectly matches your interior style. Or take inspiration from expensive designer vases such as the «Savoy» by Alvar Aalto for Iittala and simply design your own version of it.
