Anyone looking for a printer for the home quickly realises that the price range is huge. The printers tested by Stiftung Warentest range from under 100 to over 1,000 euros. The differences in quality are just as great: while many good printers tested impress with razor-sharp text or brilliant photo prints, others disappoint with blurred, streaky print images, poor contrast or colour errors...

- Cutting unit from A4 to A5
- Touch display
- Real off switch
- ADF function (without fax)
- high cost per page
he idea of adding a cutting unit to the Brother DCP-J1800DW multifunction printer may seem a little strange at first, but in testing it proves to be practical. This allows you to stick with A4 paper, but get A5 prints and copies in no time at all. Over time, you will certainly save paper, because the smaller products are unexpectedly often sufficient in everyday life...
The hefty price and very high ink costs spoil the Brother DCP-J1800DW's good rating. This is a pity, because the compact multifunction printer does a good job in small offices and home offices. The cutting function worked easily and reliably and is not just a gimmick, but useful for many applications such as invitations, price lists or quotations.
