The ultrasonic flow meter is required for control measurements or for quickly determining the flow rate in a pipeline, making it a portable and easy-to-install measurement system. The ultrasonic flow meter operates based on the time-of-flight difference method. The measurement principle of the flow meter is quite simple. When measuring at an angle in a pipe with the flow, it takes less time than when measuring against the flow. The stronger the flow, the longer it takes to measure against it and the faster it is with it. Therefore, the difference between the flow times with and against the flow directly depends on the flow velocity. The flow meter uses this effect to determine flow velocity and flow rate. Electroacoustic transducers (piezoelectric effect) send and receive short ultrasonic pulses through the medium flowing in the pipe.
