Well, it's just a question of what you want. I've been very satisfied with them for years and have used different generations of these devices in different places. And as a comparison to laying a new gigabit line in the house, a diversion via the power cabling is interesting. And 100 Mbps is completely sufficient for me. If you want more, you either have to buy a corresponding radio or pull strings. But even with the latter, all components must of course be designed for this, as we know, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link... Bye - Marakiga
Yes, you can.
A visit to the Devolo homepage will help... https://www.devolo.ch/magic-1-wifi https://www.devolo.ch/magic-1-wifi-mini From a purely visual point of view, I would say that the mini doesn't have a socket, but the other one does. So if you only need a wifi repeater and not the socket itself, then the mini will probably suffice.
I installed this at my place 2 days ago. It consists of a LAN adapter that serves as a 'base' (and only has LAN) and 2 LAN/WLAN adapters. The WLAN can be switched on and off individually for these two adapters at the touch of a button (or via the Devolo software). The Powerline function continues to run anyway. At the moment I use the adapters only in powerline mode without any problems. Note: During installation, follow the (simple) instructions exactly. Otherwise the adapters will not initialise correctly. I had also thought that I could ignore the instructions....
I can't say exactly, but we've never had any problems in daily use. In one place we have a TV, soundbar, TV box and DVD player connected and used as needed. The other place has a telephone, stereo system and modem/router, all of which are in continuous operation. I worry more about the power line or the fuse than about the Devolo adapter when additional power consumers are connected...
If nothing is done, devolo creates a new Wi-Fi network. This can be reset either by "cloning" (*} the adapter with the primary router, which automatically retrieves the network coordinates, or by entering them manually. Important: The IP address will be assigned automatically by the router via DHCP. When configuring the devolo adapter, it is important to disable DHCP. (*} See devolo documentation.
Yes, this works. Connect the swisscom router to the non-wifi part (1 Ethernet port). Connect the wifi part to your TV box (via Ethernet). If you need wifi, you can clone the 2nd part with the Internet box. This way you can use the same WiFi network all the way in the basement. Note: the Powerline Magic technology is not compatible with the old devices.
The Devolo Magic series is not compatible with the other series. I was unable to establish a connection. This is mentioned somewhere on the Devolo website. Many greetings
I couldn't use this device with my Devolo 500 so I had to send it back.
Hi Sergio. Yes, that should work. It is simply important that the Devolo is plugged into the socket first. And the same applies abroad as in Switzerland: depending on the house installation, the Devolo may not work properly. But you just have to test it.

The Devolo Magic 1 WiFi Starter Kit 2-1-2 (1200 Mbps) cannot function as a router, but serves as a powerline adapter to distribute your existing Internet connection via the power lines in your home. Here's how it works: - The internet line (from your router) can be plugged into one of the RJ45 sockets. - The adapter then uses the power lines to transmit this connection to other parts of the house. - Stationary devices such as Smart TVs, consoles or PCs can be connected to the second RJ45 socket in order to connect them directly to the Internet via LAN. An additional router is not required to distribute the Internet connection, but the Swisscom router must be connected to one of the Powerline adapters to bring the Internet connection into the Powerline network. The second RJ45 slot is used to connect additional devices directly via LAN without having to connect them via Wi-Fi.

The Devolo Magic 1 WiFi Starter Kit 2-1-2 (1200 Mbps) cannot function directly as a router. Here is how the adapters are typically used: - One adapter is connected to the router (in this case, the Swisscom Box) to distribute the Internet connection over the power lines. - The second RJ45 slot on each adapter is used to connect static devices such as smart TVs, consoles or PCs directly to the internet connection via LAN. This makes it possible to connect these devices by cable and thus ensure a stable and fast connection. It is therefore necessary to use an additional router (the Swisscom Box) to provide the Internet connection, and the Devolo Magic 1 WiFi adapters are used to distribute this connection via the power lines in the house and to connect additional devices via the RJ45 slots.
Automatically generated from the .Hello Of course you can remove the wifi. But the fixed network only works at 100 Mbps. The modem doesn't work with wifi boxes.
Good evening. In the app's user interface, you can set the Wi-Fi network to 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz or deactivate it completely. However, I don't know how you can reactivate it, e.g. after the tablet no longer has Wi-Fi access.
No, you will have to buy it separately
Hello When the unit is set up for the first time, no password has been assigned yet. You entered a password during commissioning. If you do not remember this password, you will probably have to reset the unit. Excerpt from the manual, 4.2: https://www.devolo.ch/fileadmin/Web-Content/DE/products/hnw/magic-1-wifi/documents/ch-de/devolo_Magic_1_WiFi_2-1_0321_de_online.pdf "The web interface is not password password. To prevent unauthorised access by third access by third parties, a login password password when logging in for the first time. recommended. " Greetings
Would be new to me that the integrated socket is switchable - at least I haven't read anything about it in the instructions and never heard of it :)
Thank you for the tip. FAQ was also unable to answer my question about the outdoor area. But I contacted the support there. I am still waiting for an answer.
Hello, there are only 2 adapters active as WLan transmitters and the Lan connections on these two are limited to 100Mbit!
Check the manual: https://www.devolo.de/fileadmin/Web-Content/DE/products/hnw/magic-2-wifi-next/documents/de/devolo_Magic_2_WiFi_next_0820_de_online.pdf The first time you log in, you have to set the password, by default no PW is set.
Have I understood correctly, your Internet from Salt is not yet activated? But you already have the modem from Salt? With Devolo, if you don't have any internet connections in the house (e.g. UPC sockets), you can create a line via the normal power sockets or of course amplify WIFI.
I had only bought one set, but had informed myself beforehand and read about no restrictions that the system is not expandable. Only that components of older models (dLan) are not compatible. I found the configuration a bit tedious (ok, I only read the quick guide afterwards ;-) ), but what helped me was the Devolo website itself (https://www.devolo.ch) and the support section with lots of questions and good answers. I had a quick look and found this answer to the question "Do Magic add-on adapters install automatically? "No. You have to add the new device with one of the previously installed devices by pressing a button. To do this, first select an adapter from the existing network, then please press the encryption button of the new adapter." I can imagine that devices from another set are to be considered like an add-on adapter. The Devolo Cockpit (also available for download on the Devolo website) may also help with the configuration. Good luck!
Normally all Devolo Magic models work with each other. The only 'problem' I see is that if you put a Magic 1 model with a Magic 2 you will not have the speed of the Magic 2 but that of the Magic 1.
