Yes, the GPS is only activated in certain activity modes, e.g. when cycling outdoors, jogging outdoors, etc.
Unfortunately, I do not see a green version of this smartwatch. I found the V2 in green: Polar Vantage V2 Green M/L I could not find a green strap for it though.
