Hey, For me, the G5 (32"/2K) replaced my older three 27 "s and I was "blown away" ;) At first I was almost a little overwhelmed by the size, but you get used to it very well *grin*. The colours are rich and the monitor can be adjusted well via the HUD. The only downer I've noticed so far is the reflection. Depending on the incidence of light, it reflects relatively strongly and the colours become fake. But since I'm more of a gamer, it's almost always dark for me anyway ;) . I can't say anything about the Acer one because I don't know it in action or otherwise. But I would definitely recommend the G5, if only because of the price/performance ratio. The only thing was that I couldn't use all three monitors properly (that they all ran at the same time) until I bought slightly more expensive 1.4 DP monitor cables. The older ones I had didn't seem to do well with the 144Hz and 2K. Hope this helps you a little.

Yes, to get 165 Hz on this screen, you need to use DisplayPort, as HDMI can limit the rate to 100 Hz or less. Also check the refresh settings in your PC's display options (right-click on the desktop > Display Settings > Advanced) and make sure your cable is properly connected to the graphics card. If the problem persists, try another cable or update the GPU drivers.

Can I also use this monitor for the PS5?

avatar
Galaxus

You can basically use the monitor with the PS5, but there are limitations: The PS5 does not support a native 1440p ultrawide format, so black bars will appear on the sides when playing on the 21:9 monitor. The refresh rate is limited to a maximum of 100 Hz via HDMI, as the PS5 does not have a DisplayPort output to enable 120 Hz. FreeSync does not work on the PS5 as this technology was developed for AMD graphics cards and the PS5 does not use AMD components. HDR is available, but the HDR performance of the monitor is limited and not comparable to a 4K TV.

The monitor only has one HDMI connection, not two. It has one HDMI input and one DisplayPort input. Wall mounting is possible as it has a slot for a Kensington lock, which indicates a VESA-compatible rear panel that can be used for wall mounts.

Good evening, it is not possible to play in native ultra-wide format (21:9) with the PS5 on this monitor. The PS5 only supports 16:9 format, so you'll have large black bands on the sides of the screen when playing in ultra-wide. You can, however, play in 3440 x 1440 pixel resolution, but the image will be displayed with those black bands on the sides. As far as refresh rate is concerned, the PS5 cannot use the 165 Hz of the monitor via HDMI. It's limited to 60Hz on HDMI, and even if the monitor supports 120Hz on DisplayPort, the PS5 doesn't have a DisplayPort output, so you won't be able to benefit from 120Hz either.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 - G55T (34", 3440 x 1440 pixels) supports the PS5 in terms of picture technology, but with limitations in terms of format and refresh rate. The PS5 does not output a native ultrawide format, which is why black bars appear on the sides when playing on this monitor. In addition, the refresh rate is limited to 100 Hz via HDMI, as the PS5 does not have a DisplayPort output to enable 120 Hz. This means that you can use a maximum of 100 Hz on this monitor with the PS5, not the full 120 Hz. HDR is available, but the HDR performance of the monitor is limited and not comparable to a 4K TV.

Splitting the screen by dragging the windows to the edge of the screen is a Windows function and does not depend on the screen. This works with any screen, even on a laptop. And also with this screen.

Wow! That's an unusual question ... Usually people have a computer and look for a suitable screen. But I think that pretty much any modern computer (not necessarily a laptop!) can cope with this screen. To be on the safe side, just check the specifications for the graphics card. I think with laptops you have to take a closer look at what kind of signal they can deliver with an externally connected screen.

Yes, this monitor is well suited for working from home. It offers a high Display resolution of UWQHD (3440 x 1440 pixels) and a 34-inch curved screen diagonal, which creates an immersive working environment. The refresh rate of 165 Hz and HDR functionality ensure clear and colourful display, which is particularly beneficial when working with images and videos. However, there are no integrated speakers, which requires additional audio equipment if necessary.

The Samsung Odyssey G5 - G55T (LC34G55TWWPXEN) is compatible with an Nvidia RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB, especially when it comes to the AMD FreeSync Premium function, but with some limitations. - The monitor supports native AMD FreeSync Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) and is also compatible with Nvidia's G-SYNC Compatible feature, but only via DisplayPort. If you want to use FreeSync or G-SYNC, you must ensure that the refresh rate of the monitor is set to 120Hz or 165Hz to ensure proper function. - For games like Fortnite, Minecraft and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2022, the monitor should be well suited thanks to its high refresh rate of 165Hz and low input lag. However, flickering may occur when using G-SYNC in dark scenes if the frame rate drops. - It is important to note that FreeSync does not work over HDMI, so DisplayPort should be used for the best performance.

Yes, you can connect a PS5 to the Samsung Odyssey G5 (model LC34G55TWWPXEN), but there are some important considerations to keep in mind: ## Update Frequency - The Odyssey G5 monitor is limited to 100 Hz when connected to the PS5 via HDMI cable. It does not support 120 Hz over HDMI. ## Connection - To achieve 120 Hz, it would be necessary to use a DisplayPort cable, but the problem is that the PS5 does not have a DisplayPort output. Therefore, with the standard configuration, it is not possible to achieve 120 Hz with this monitor and a PS5. ## Settings - Make sure the settings on the PS5 and monitor are correct for the maximum supported refresh rate (100 Hz in this case). However, even with the correct settings, the 100 Hz limitation on HDMI will remain. In summary, the Samsung Odyssey G5 monitor can be connected to PS5, but you will not be able to take advantage of the 120 Hz refresh rate due to the limitations of the HDMI interface.
