About Graphene

Graphene is a special form of carbon that was discovered in 2004, earning its discoverers a Nobel Prize. It’s no surprise, as the properties of graphene are indeed revolutionary: harder than diamond, more elastic than rubber, 200 times stronger than steel, and yet lighter than aluminum. All of this is made possible by a unique structure: in graphene, carbon atoms form a honeycomb lattice that is exactly one atom thick. Each carbon atom is bonded to exactly three other carbon atoms, which is why these bonds are very, very strong.
