The batteries can be charged directly in the battery grip using the AC power adapter EH-7P (sold separately). When the battery grip is attached to the camera, the camera must be turned off in order to charge the batteries via the grip's integrated USB port.

The MS-D12EN is a battery holder for the MB-D12 multi-function grip. It is required when operating the Nikon D800/800E with the rechargeable Nikon EN-EL15 battery.
