According to the Amazon website, the Echo Dot (4th gen) is thread-capable and can therefore be used as a thread border router. I have not found any documentation for or against the ECHO Dot (5th gen). Can this device also be used as a thread border router (for Matter)?

No, unfortunately not... I also realised afterwards. I also bought a separate ZigBee Bridge, for example, so that I could integrate my Sonoff devices.
