Question about Netgear Nighthawk X4S Mesh Extender

Before I throw money down the drain again, two questions: Can I use the solo with any other router? I have a Wingo router that covers the front of the house just fine. The Netgear should now fill the holes in the back. And: Is it possible to operate a switch on the Ethernet port to connect Apple TV or Sonos, for example? This would possibly reduce the number of devices competing for space. (Unfortunately, cable solutions and powerline are not feasible from a structural point of view). I am grateful for any tips on this odyssey!

Helpful answer

I have the Nighthawk X4S AC2200 EX7500 model: works fine together with the Wingo router. My version doesn't have an Ethernet port, so I can't say anything about that.

I connected it to the UPC router. It worked well. I'd be happy to sell you mine as an occasional purchase via Digitec. Interested?

As far as I know, the extender should work with any router. I operate it with a UPC router. I don't have a switch on the extender, only on the router itself. But I don't see any reason why that shouldn't work. Can't guarantee it though, as it hasn't been tested. Setup was easy and seems to work well so far.
