Can anyone confirm that I can use this camera without problems WITHOUT an underwater housing on a snorkelling trip underwater?
Yes, it works perfectly. However, you should certainly observe the specification limit of 15m. I myself have used the camera at a depth of max. approx. 5m without housing without any problems (with housing so far at 35m). Excellent pictures! Film sequences are also excellent!
IMPORTANT: Before opening the flaps for the charging socket or battery/SD card compartment, rinse the camera WELL in clean fresh water (especially after use in salt water), then dry well. ALWAYS visually check flap closures (lock and safety catch) before immersing in water.
I can confirm this as well. Last month, during the autumn holidays, I took what felt like 1000 photos every day, uploaded them to my iPad via WLAN in the evening and then simply deleted 95% of them again because the fish didn't want to stay still :-). But now I have over 400 photos that I still really enjoy today. I also took some films, although when you're snorkelling you go along with the waves, which makes the films quite choppy. But the 3 encounters with a 2.5 m reef shark, that's what I got :-).
I only managed to connect the camera to the WLAN the second time, but once you understand that you have to actively select the camera's WLAN before transmitting, it works perfectly. St. Schneider, Scherzingen
