Question about Devolo Magic 1 WiFi starter kit 2-1-2
Can both devices be connected via WLAN? Or does the main unit have to be connected via LAN? I'm asking because I don't have a free wall socket any more, only a power strip. What would you recommend to bring the internet into the basement?
The WLAN device has an integrated socket. You can connect the device to the wall socket and then connect a power strip for other devices to the WLAN device.
The main unit has no WLAN and must therefore be connected to the LAN. If you no longer have a free LAN connection, you could use a switch, e.g. TP-Link TL-SG105 (5 ports) . The second device with WLAN has, just like the main device, a 230 V mains connection. You could connect the power strip to this.

You must connect a powerline adapter to LAN, otherwise it won't work. And: the adapters must be in the socket BEFORE the power strip. Otherwise you risk performance problems or interruptions.
