Can Mac Time Machine backups and iPhone backups be saved directly to it? Can I stream photos/videos and access them remotely?

The iOS app "WD My Cloud" enables automatic backup of photos/videos from the iPhone. This app is also suitable for viewing photos/videos that are on the NAS.
For streaming videos (in HD format, e.g. as .mkv or .mp4) I use the vlc app on the iPad or the Plex media server. Plex can be installed directly on the NAS, but the EX2 Ultra has limitations when transcoding videos because the CPU is not really powerful.
