Does anyone have any experience of how often you need to use the printer to prevent it from drying out? I would use the printer irregularly every 1 to 2 months and wonder if this is enough to prevent this from happening.

Experience has shown that it takes quite a long time to dry out. I've been using it for over 2 years and it's only happened to me twice so far.
But it could be fixed each time with a cleaning process. The ink consumption is also very low. Overall TOP device, I would buy it again at any time. ...and I've never said that about any other printer.
