My printer is also causing problems, vertical lines are no longer drawn straight, but shifted sideways and the letter lines are italicised and shifted sideways, despite running multiple nozzle cleaning and optimisation programs.
Please contact the seller or the manufacturer directly.
These faults started just after a year.

my printer has been printing well from the start. Installed original inks supplied with the printer. A bit of fun to install and set up printing but as far as print quality goes I can't complain.

All right, had the same printing errors, I sent the printer to Brother under warranty.
When it came back, it worked great for exactly one week.
But now I'm annoyed with the printer day after day.
The old MFC-J315 prints better and cost only a fraction of the MFC-J4540
Too bad, I'm very disappointed with Brother.
I'm looking for a new printer with a document feeder.

But I do like Brother's software.

I had the same problems with this device. If it is still under warranty, send it in. If you only print so little, choose a device with toner.
