Doesn't seem to work on my HP Pavilion x360 14-dh1997nz with USB 3.1 Type-C? Is there anything else that needs to be considered? Thanks for any hints.

Your laptop must support the Power Delivery (USB-C PD) standard. USB-C is only the form of the connection, it does not mean that all forms of transmission are also supported.
