Hello all I have just unpacked my new DS118 and switched it on. The operating noise is quiet, also the running noise of the hard disk. However, the disk scratches quite loudly when it is accessed, which is something I don't know from my old NAS, but rather from the Compis in the past. Is this normal or is the hard drive broken? I ordered the NAS including 6TB WD Red Plus. Thank you for your assessment.

Hello, I would connect the hard disk to a computer and read out the smart data with CrystalDisk. In the programme you can also set the Acoustic Management... called AAM. However, this has a little influence on the access time.
