How do you get a cassette out of the adapter if the adapter is defective? Played 7 cassettes with it, then it was dead. No reaction to the switch, the cassette is trapped, the battery is hot. Changing the battery did nothing. I did get a credit note, but my question about how to get the valuable cassette out again was not answered.
Hello Michael Ludwigs
I have now received an answer from my colleagues:
To get the cassette out of the defective adapter again, you have to take the adapter apart part by part until either the lid opens or you can otherwise get at the cassette.
To do this, place the adapter on a table with the cover for the VHS-C tape facing the table so that the back is visible. Now use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws until the metal plate can be removed. Now disassemble the inner parts piece by piece until the lid opens and the VHS-C cassette can be removed.
It is important to pay attention to the magnetic tape. It should not be touched or crumpled.
I would be happy to offer to take the cassette out again at our place in Volketswil:

Hello Michael Ludwigs
I am sorry to hear that the S-VHS adapter is already defective after such a short time. Unfortunately, I don't have such an adapter with me to look at the mechanics. However, I would be happy to ask our product experts in Germany if they can explain to me how to proceed in order to get the cassette out in such a case. Alternatively, I can offer to have the cassette removed by us in Volketswil.
