Since I am using a ChromeOS device, is a PC/Mac only required for the initial setup to create the WIFI connection with the device and can the device from there be managed by the App or is a PC/Mac permantently required?

It can be managed botrh by PC/Mac and APP independetly from each other

hello DomCH86; according to this document (https://help.elgato.com/hc...) neither a PC or Mac is required for initial setup and subsequent control... all can be done via the iOS or Android app
