There are older microchips that are not compatible, details can be found in the manufacturer's instructions. Only the size M door works with the chip, the large version does not.
The door connects directly to WLAN, no hub is required. Of course, you should first check whether there is reception at the intended location.

Good evening, the Pet-Safe from Staywell fits into the existing opening of the old Pet-Safe flaps. Had the first Staywell flap installed over 25 years ago and upgraded to the latest version with microchip reader a year ago. The installation was no problem, everything fitted perfectly.
