The design was created in the late 1980s during a family vacation on Capri. The inspiration came from a plate of calamari, over which Philippe Starck wanted to squeeze a lemon. Clearly inspired by the sight of the squid, Starck quickly scribbled his ideas on the paper placemat of the pizzeria. He sent the placemat with its sketches, amidst food remnants and stains, to Alberto Alessi, who brought the lemon squeezer to life in 1990.

Place the lemon squeezer over the object to be drizzled with lemon or over an empty glass. Now hold one of the three legs firmly, and the halved lemons can be squeezed by pressing and twisting over it – done. For cleaning, simply rinse under running water. The three-legged, silver-colored design object is made of polished, glossy material and stands 29.0 cm tall.
