Product details

Made to make you better. This product follows the Grand Prix 4000 S II. With Continental's unique tread compound, produced exclusively in Germany, they have revolutionized the cycling scene. Thanks to the legendary BlackChili compound, Continental has sustainably answered the eternal question of grip versus rolling resistance. Regular test victories demonstrate measurable and noticeable advantages for riders, both in the lab and on the road. The latest polymers, along with specially developed carbon black particles and fillers, guarantee unique performance. Vectran is a synthetic high-tech fiber inspired by nature. Like spider silk, Vectran is a liquid crystalline polymer. Vectran is spun from the molten liquid polymer Vectra and processed into a multifilament yarn. Both spider silk and Vectran possess immense tensile strength at minimal weight. These are exactly the right properties to be used as a puncture protection insert in a top Continental tire. A Vectran breaker is lighter, more flexible, and offers more effective protection against cuts than comparable nylon breakers, without affecting rolling resistance.

The Continental Grand Prix 5000 S TR tyre impresses in all test categories. The tyre achieves a top score for rolling resistance, puncture protection is at least solid in all areas and the weight is quite low. Without any weaknesses, the rather high price is justified. A clear buy tip.

Conti doesn't shy away: top marks for rolling resistance and puncture protection, ahead in terms of weight. Only the slightly increased effort required to fit the tyres and the high price tarnish the happiness. Test victory!

The Grand Prix 5000S achieves a top value for rolling resistance. Grip and comfort are top notch. The weight is still within the green zone for a tubeless model. In the puncture protection tests, the 5000S makes it into the top ranks. The initial fitting, however, is somewhat difficult.
