That is absolutely possible. I have been using the mats for over a year and am very satisfied. I laid them directly on concrete in the basement. I covered the surface generously, so the whole construction doesn't slip. You can also put the fitness equipment on it.

The floor protection mats are good, but rather slippery. I would recommend rubber mats.
Here is a suggestion (but I have no experience with them):

No, rolling would be difficult and an office chair plus a person would be too heavy and the wheels would probably sink in.
Heavy fitness equipment leaves clear marks when it is moved (not injured, but the indentations remain).
If a transparent office chair floor protection mat from here or the blue and yellow club is on it, it should work, but I think cork would be a better choice.
There are 6 bottom pieces with 2 edge pieces each. So 12 pieces. When assembling with 2x3 floor parts, 10 edge pieces are needed. 2 remain.
But: the parts differ and cannot be used everywhere (different parts are needed at the "corners" than at the sides).
