Eugène Christophe, the French cyclist born in Paris on January 22, 1885, is considered the inventor of the pedal hook. In 1925, he sold his invention to Poutrait-Morin (now known as Zefal). He was director of this company until his death in 1970. Since then, Zefal has sold these legendary Christophe pedal hooks.
