I bought one of these luggage carriers. Why is the spring flap integrated? I can't remove it and therefore can't click a Snapit component onto it. Is this a design flaw or is there a way to remove the spring flap?

I haven't tried it myself yet, I had no trouble clipping on my saddlebags, but there is a silver retaining ring on one side of the pivot axle of the spring flap. If this is removed (using needle-nose pliers or a flat-bladed screwdriver on the open side), it should be possible to unthread the axle.
