The three-axle passenger car G4 was designed by Daimler-Benz in 1934 and produced until 1939. This heavy six-seater off-road vehicle with an eight-cylinder engine had a power output of 100 (later 110) horsepower. It was developed for high-ranking officials of the Third Reich, but also for the needs of the army, where it was used as a staff vehicle (designated Kfz.21). The G4 type was essentially built as a four-door sedan with a convertible top. The vehicle proved to be too complex and expensive for mass production, resulting in only a relatively small series being manufactured. Some examples were equipped with MG 34 machine guns. They were used to transport the top leadership of the Wehrmacht and were also employed as security and escort vehicles. Vehicles in this configuration were referred to as partisan cars.
