Standard Branch Line Carriage
After World War I, the newly established Deutsche Reichsbahn took over a variety of passenger carriage types, which typically had wooden structures. To simplify maintenance, standard carriages with metal bodies were developed, significantly increasing safety. For the branch line types, the Reichsbahn oriented itself towards the predecessor designs and procured the usual two-axle through carriages with open platforms. In the early 1930s, there was another modernization push with the introduction of closed platforms and welded car bodies. These vehicles remained in service with the DB until the 1960s, often used as trailer cars for motor coaches. A few examples have been preserved, including those at the Bavarian Local Railway Association and the IG 3Seenbahn in the Black Forest.
All carriages are equipped as standard with LED interior lighting and powered couplings. The built-in powered short couplings allow the carriage set to be supplied with power via the steam locomotive 78 1002. The interior lighting can be switched digitally via the locomotive. This is a second-class carriage with built-in tail light illumination. The total length over buffers is approximately 75 cm.
