Electric locomotive 185 077 of Deutsche Bahn. The order from DB Cargo for 200 such units was the main driving force behind the development of the TRAXX AC1, as this locomotive type was retroactively named in 2003. The designation TRAXX stands for "Transnational Railway Applications with eXtreme fleXibility." The locomotive, directly derived from the series 145, now with a modified design and series designation, was suitable for both of the commonly used alternating current systems in Europe: 15 kV/16 2/3 Hz and 25 kV/50 Hz. Weighing 84 tons, it delivers a continuous power output of 5.6 MW and is approved for speeds of up to 140 km/h.
