The Italian company Lamborghini Trattori was founded in 1948 by Ferruccio Lamborghini, who later became the founder of Lamborghini Automobili, in Pieve di Cento in Northern Italy. After Ferruccio Lamborghini increasingly focused on the production of his exclusive sports cars from the early 1970s, SAME took over the Lamborghini Trattori S.p.A. division from him in 1973, incorporating additional technologies into its product range. For example, tracked vehicles and the fully synchronized transmission for tractors, which Lamborghini Trattori was the first company to bring to market. As a result of this acquisition, the large tractor series Lamborghini 1056 – 1556 was launched in 1981, based on the Same Hercules 160. The five tractor models in this series were powered by six-cylinder engines. The top model, the Lamborghini 1556, also featured a turbocharger. The power range of the five tractors was between 105 hp and 155 hp. The transmission was equipped with 12 forward and 3 reverse gears.
