The Peugeot is built as standard with a standard wheelbase and a front-engine/front-wheel drive (FF) setup. Based on the FF hatchback Peugeot 306, the Peugeot 306 Maxi was developed with special components for rallies. A 2.0-litre naturally aspirated engine at the front produced 280 hp, and the car had enlarged wings, a roof spoiler and a lighter body. Including victories in the 1996 and 1997 rally races in France, this car achieved many racing successes, such as the class championship at the 1996 Monte Carlo Rally and third place in the 5th and 6th races on the global rally circuit in 1997. The Tamiya BT-01 chassis is a beginner-friendly chassis that offers six different drive and chassis variations. The wheelbase can be built in 257 mm and 251 mm. Furthermore, the chassis is based on the drive systems of real cars and can be built as front-engine or mid-engine with front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive. The enclosed body is unpainted.
