Pia's picks: lamps that celebrate cables instead of hiding them
by Pia Seidel
Good light in the workplace is more than just a question of brightness. It affects your concentration and how quickly your eyes tire.
From the Luxula brand, we have a range of new lights on sale that will put your workplace in the right light.
Finding the ideal position for a classic desk lamp is no easy task. If it illuminates the work area well, it is easy for a reflection to appear on the screen. You then unconsciously try to look past it, which can lead to tension in the long term.
A monitor lamp, also known as a screen bar, solves this problem. It is attached directly to the top edge of the monitor and does not require any additional desk space.
With a width of 50 centimetres, this model illuminates the work area evenly. You can dim the brightness continuously by touch: You can choose between cool and warm white light (3000, 4000 and 6000 K). The integrated LEDs provide 250 lumens and shine at an angle of 120 degrees. The manufacturer specifies a service life of 25,000 hours. This means that the lamp will last for almost ten years if you employ the light for eight hours a day. Power is supplied via USB-C.
Are you looking for a light source that illuminates the entire workspace or room? Then the Luxula floor lamp could be the right solution for you. It is 203 centimetres high in total and only needs to be assembled after unpacking. The shade measures 63 × 36.5 centimetres and is designed to emit 7000 lumens of glare-free light. The output of 100 watts is divided evenly between the upward and downward lighting.
The light is dimmable and offers various modes, for example for concentrated work or at night. You can switch between them using a touch control panel. The LEDs are designed to last 30,000 hours. The connection cable is 150 centimetres long.
The Luxula «Duo Line» uses two shades that shine both upwards and downwards and can each be swivelled horizontally by 90 degrees. This makes the lamp ideal for corner solutions or the illumination of two workstations.
The model has a total output of 120 watts and a brightness of 8500 lumens.
You can control both light units separately via the touch panel on the pole. The integrated memory function saves the last brightness setting for each side. The service life of the LEDs, which produce neutral white light at 4000 K, should also be 30,000 hours.
The luminaires of the modular Hexaform system immediately catch the eye with their hexagonal design. The luminaires can be mounted on the wall or ceiling. A single element has an output of 8 × 5 watts and a luminous efficacy of 110 lumens per watt. At 6500 K, the elements provide a light similar to daylight.
We offer the series in several sets. Thanks to the long connecting cable in the larger sets, you can also mount the elements at greater distances or create compact zones. According to the manufacturer, the light sources are designed for a service life of 25,000 hours. The set of 5 provides you with over 21,000 lumens, while the set of 8 also illuminates larger rooms with its 30,000 lumens.
