Charged in 10 minutes: Realme GT Neo 5
With an output of 240 watts, the Realme GT Neo 5 can fully charge its battery in ten minutes. The LED ring on the back can light up without a guilty conscience.
After 80 seconds, the battery should already be charged to 20 per cent. It takes four minutes until it is half full. A complete charging process should even take a little less than ten minutes.
Fast charging should not damage the battery
The battery of the Realme GT Neo 5 has a capacity of 4600 mAh. However, it only takes less than ten minutes to charge with the included 240-watt power adapter. The smartphone also gets the maximum out of chargers that support SuperVooc and Legacy Vooc. However, this is less than 240 watts. Fast charging technology is also used by Oppo and OnePlus, among others, which belong to the same group as Realme.
Realme is trying to dispel concerns that the battery will suffer as a result of fast charging. In laboratory tests, the battery still had 80 per cent of its capacity after 1600 full 240-watt charges - equivalent to around four years of use.
Good features with weaknesses in the camera
Realme equips the GT Neo 5 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and installs 16 gigabytes of RAM and 256 gigabytes or one terabyte of storage space. This applies to the 240-watt version of the smartphone. The manufacturer also offers a 150-watt version, which always has 256 gigabytes of storage. However, it offers more choice when it comes to RAM: 8, 12 or 16 gigabytes.
The GT Neo 5 runs Android 13 out of the box and is equipped with the Realme UI 4.0 user interface.
The back of the GT Neo 5 reminds me of the think Nothing Phone (1). However, the LED light is smaller and not just white. It is also intended to provide information about new notifications.
The Realme GT Neo 5 is now available in China. For the rest of the world, it will be launched as the Realme GT3 in February 2023.
