Advantages
- Tested for maximum reliability: Over 300,000 hours of compatibility and stress tests guarantee smooth operation even with multiple users.
- Easy firmware updates: The firmware of the hard drive can be updated directly in Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM). There is no need to remove the drive to perform an update manually with external tools. Available updates are notified directly in the software.
- A central point of contact: Technical support can be requested directly in the Synology account and returns can be managed. No more tedious back and forth between different manufacturers to find the cause of the problem.
- Since the operating system is located on the hard drives, technical support customers are required to perform an extended SMART test. When using Synology HDDs, HDDs in this (according to SMART healthy) state can be replaced without any problems. With third-party manufacturers, replacement is difficult in such scenarios and is usually only possible after a negative SMART test.
- Guaranteed compatibility with Synology NAS over the entire product life cycle and under all workload scenarios.
