My own NAS system – Part 1: taking Synology behind the woodshed
by Richard Müller
A hard disk drive (HDD), often abbreviated as a hard disk, HD or hard disk, is a magnetic storage device in which data is written to the surface of a rotating disk. For this purpose, the magnetic coating of the disk surface is magnetized according to the information to be recorded. The advantages of hard disks are the low prices per storage space. The biggest disadvantage is the mechanics, which are susceptible to interference and slower compared to flash memory. Hard disks are therefore suitable wherever a high volume of data is to be stored (server, data grab in the PC, NAS, etc.).
In our shop you can find hard drives from the big three players: Seagate, Toshiba and WD. Of course, we also offer model-specific hard disks from Dell, Lenovo and HP.
