The jury has spoken: World of Warcraft, The Legend of Zelda and Minecraft are the best games of all time
Digitec Galaxus has assembled a panel of 47 experts and got them to choose the 100 best games of all time. World of Warcraft takes the top spot in what’s likely Switzerland’s biggest video game ranking, beating out The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Minecraft.
In a multi-part article series, Galaxus has revealed the 100 best video games of all time – chosen by a panel of 47 experts from the Swiss gaming scene. The jury includes game developers, industry representatives, con organisers and games journalists from well-known Swiss media outlets. Each jury member submitted a personal top 25 list. The higher a game was ranked, the more points it earned towards the overall score.
The results are in: World of Warcraft takes the title of best game of all time, followed by The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in second place and Minecraft in third. The top ten also features other classics such as Half-Life 2 and newer titles such as Elden Ring. But even further down in the ranking are games that many people know and some would have liked to see in the top ten. Starcraft and Civilization, for example, are among the titles sparking lively discussion in the comments.

«We made this ranking because we wanted to offer the Swiss gaming community something that goes beyond a simple Digitec best-of list,» says Domagoj Belancic, Senior Editor at Digitec Galaxus. «Video games are culture – and they deserve to be curated and discussed as widely as possible.» The aim, he says, was to deliberately spark a debate – there may be no accounting for taste, but there’s absolutely disputing it. «The fact that the first three instalments, covering places 100 to 2, have already sparked heated discussions confirms we’ve hit the nail on the head. I’m already looking forward to seeing how our Community reacts to first place.»
The first instalments in the series, written by author Rainer Etzweiler, went live on Digitec and Galaxus in recent weeks. Today, the winning game has been revealed: World of Warcraft.
