The differences are minor, but the 2024 version of the Amazon Fire HD 8 is a modest improvement over its 2022 predecessor, essentially inheriting the benefits of the now-discontinued Fire HD 8 Plus by upping the RAM from 2 gigabytes to 3 gigabytes and also adding a 5-megapixel rear camera to its basic package. Otherwise, it is the same reliable but boring tablet that we already know.

The Fire HD 8 is unrivalled in terms of price, but it is also not a top tablet. It offers a very long battery life, but only a moderate speed and little memory, which can at least be expanded. The display has a comparatively low resolution, which means it lacks sharpness and colours are distorted.
