The compact radio module is placed in a wall socket directly behind the conventional switch already there and transforms standard electrical installations into intelligent Z-Wave-based radio systems. The existing switch no longer switches the consumers directly, but only supplies a control signal to the Fibaro module, which in turn controls the consumers. This control is done either via the local switch or via radio. The Fibaro module works with any switch series and any design, as long as there is enough space in the panel box for installation. In large 65mm deep boxes this should be the case regularly. In smaller sockets (e.g. 45mm) the possible use depends on the required depth of the conventional switch as well as on the space required by the electrical connectors that may also be in the socket. The module can switch up to 6 A per relay output, but not more than 9.5 A at both relay outputs together.
